This article discusses the potential downsides genetically modified crops and some of the issues with the industrial agriculture that is occurring around the world today. It proposes that organic farming is a better alternative and should be practiced more in the future.

I support organic farming as a far better alternative to the industrial monoculture that is currently being used in many parts of the world. Pesticides can wreak havoc on pests as well as humans, especially children, and organic farming does not use inorganic and dangerous pesticides. In addition, I think that there should be more restrictions on corporations to minimize pollution and resource use by large farms. Agriculture uses more water than industry or municipal uses in California. One way to cut down on that is by requiring more efficient irrigation systems such as drip irrigation or center pivot.
