This article comments on the potential increase of solar energy use in the next year. It argues that solar energy will become an even bigger industry in the United States in 2014 and discusses some successes of foreign countries in incorporating solar technology into their energy supply.
While each source of renewable energy has production costs associated with it, they are still worth it. Renewable sources such as solar and wind do not emit greenhouse gases on the scale that fossil fuels do, and no money needs to be poured into finding new reserves. Some issues, however, include finding places to build solar and wind farms and putting up with the visual pollution they create. Paying for the development of hydrogen fuel technology and the infrastructure to make it feasible is also a large drawback. We should still continue to develop these sources, because the fossil fuel supply will run out, and something needs to take its place.
